Active Sky/ X-Graphics vs. Flight Environment, vs FSX Stock textures?

Featured Replies

Does X-Graphics produce a different texture product to Flight Environment X? If they both do the same thing, is there a comparison to make between them?- or is it better to use parts of one texture set and parts of the other? Also wondering what the fps impact is from either XG or FEX, compared to the stock FSX textures (I assume that either product improves the stock textures).Thanks- Bruce.

I cannot speak for the AS or X Graphics programs, but FEX was well worth the purchase price. Great(!) skies, clouds and water affects. And new texture sets are available almost every day that can be uploaded through the FEX program. I didn't notice any FPS drop with FEX, but 99% of my flights are bush flights with zero AI, so I generaly get good frame rates.I bought FE for FS9 and jumped right on FEX when it was released. Haven't regretted it for one second. It's a must have in my books. Couldn't and wouldn't fly without it.
