Pausing the Sim
While the game is on pause, are the CPU and GPU still chugging away or do they slow down during the pause? Was curious about this if the game is paused and minimized and you do something else for a bit.

Shader cache... need some help
I did that the other day and it helped a ton. Now I delete it every day or so.

No word from the gods on why this is happening?

Marketplace F-35 question
Just found it. Updated August 1, including new sound package. And there it is.

FS2024, are you at all bracing for disappointed?
Day 1 or Day 2, something like that. I only have about $250 worth of add-ons for FS2020 - my real flightsim cash goes to DCS - but I hope my PMDG 737 carries over.

Massive stutters and freezes as of yesterday
I thought it was just me. Uploaded the World XVIII update last night and then went to fly and performance was terrible over Germany. Went to Vancouver, always good FPS, and still got bad stutters. I thought it was the world update. I guess not.

Marketplace F-35 question
Hello, Does anyone know if the Marketplace F-35 from IndiaFoxTecho is the newest updated version? I know I could get it from the developer site, but I have money in my Steam wallet and prefer to use that. Thank you. 😎

Cockpit camera drift making me nuts
Beauty! Upped the deadzone and that fixed it. Thank you. it was very annoying. I'm mostly a DCS flyer and I haven't enjoyed MSFS lately because I find the control setup very confusing and it makes my flights unenjoyable. But it's such a great sim I'll have to jump back in and try to get a handle on it. When you fly a ton of DCS and then jump over to MSFS, the terrain really blows you away. Depending on what I'm flying, I go between my T16000/TWCS HOTAS and my Warthog HOTAS. I don't have pedals so I prefer the T16000 for choppers and some props.

I will do exactly that. Thank you.

Cockpit camera drift making me nuts
Morning, T16000/TWCS HOTAS. I'll try fiddling around with it but I admit I have a great deal of trouble understanding the controls setup in this sim. I better watch some tutorials.

Cockpit camera drift making me nuts
Hello, In several, if not all planes, my interior view drifts down endlessly. I reset, it drifts down. I go external and back, it drifts down. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is DX10Fixer just that easy to set up and go?

DX10 Fixer released!
For those of us unclear on on the concept, and maybe it's just me: Will this thing make the DX10 graphics I can access now look better, or simply run smoother and with less visual defects? Also, will DX10 and this fix give me better FPS across the board? Thanks.

FS9 or FSX
I'm going to re-install FS9 this weekend. I just got an i5/560GTX upgrade and I'm curious what 1000FPS with everything maxed at JFK looks like. :(

ORBX PNW Very Poor FPS
Hasn't that area been known as "The Black Hole of Seattle" since day one of FSX?

560 drivers install question
CanadaOne replied to CanadaOne's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcSo far there's nothing not to like. To be honest, I've only spent about fifteen-minutes with it in FSX. By the time I loaded up FSX and got my ORBX scenery in, I had to shut off the machine because She was going to bed. (My rig is in the bedroom, how stupid is that?)Anyway, during those fifteen-minutes of flying, Friday Harbour looked rich and delicious at 50+FPS with the sliders maxed. Nice colours, a darker more realistic pallete. It looked... rich. And fast!I have about 45 minutes before I leave for work and I'm going to fry up the Nvidia Inspector and see what things look like. I'll let you know.

Benchmark Testing Results
CanadaOne replied to SpiritFlyer's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI just changed my system from an E6700/4GB RAM Corsair 1066/8800GTS 640/ which scored 919 on the PassMark thingie for a:i5-2500/4GB Corsair Dominator 1600/GTX560 Ti 1 GB/ASUS P8P67LE MB anbd got a PassMark of (about) 1350.Granted, I haven't fiddled with the RAM timing, which it seems I am supposed to do as the factory preset is too conservative, but shouldn't this setup have scored higher?I haven't loaded up FSX yet, will do tonight, but I'm getting a great improvement in Rise of Flight. 3X the FPS and with higher settings. Sweet!I still thought this rig would score higher, though.

Finally upgraded!
CanadaOne replied to CanadaOne's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThanks. Just got back from the computer shop and those new parts look great sitting there in their delicious new boxes! The MB is the OC model someone mentioned above, ASUS P6P81, something like that, and the video card is the GTX560 Ti model. I should get the whole thing back tonmorrow AM. I ran the PassMark test on my rig and got 919. can`t wait to see what the new one does.Sorry to blather on about all this, but it`s a big thing in my flightsim world and the wife understands none of it. "Are you doing all that just for your little airplanes?""Yes dear."

Finally upgraded!
CanadaOne replied to CanadaOne's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI was too late to change the order so no OC for me. It's okay, after four-years with an E6700/8800GTS, I'm sure I'll be happy with an i5-2500 and a nice 560 card (I think he ordered me the GTX560 Ti. Sweet!). I figure if I can't be happy with that, there's something wrong with me.Can't wait to get into a fresh install of FSX+ORBX and see what it looks like. If he gets the parts today I can have the machine by tomorrrow. And tomorrow is a day off for me.

Finally upgraded!
CanadaOne replied to CanadaOne's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc650W. Maybe an Antec, not sure.Edit: Just remembered, my computer dude said the MB had 2X USB-3 ports or connections or whatever. Not sure if that helps nail it down.Anyway, I'll check in the morning.

Finally upgraded!
CanadaOne replied to CanadaOne's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcBecause I'm not good with electronics or anything having to do with electronics. I'm amazed I don't kill myself turning on the lights at night. That said, and given that the K CPU is only $10 more, I'll see if I can change my order and then maybe hound some of the tech guys here for some advice. If it's too late, I won't cry. I'll just enjoy what I have. I'm sure it will sizzle compared to my E6700.Not sure of my MB, I just told the guy to get me the one he thought best. All I know is it's an Asus, it will hold 4 strips of RAM, and it's costing me $150. He said there was a $99 MB but strongly suggested I go with the better one. I trust him so I said yes.

Finally upgraded!
Just plonked down eight-bills for an i5-2500/4GB Corsair Dominator RAM/560GTX 1GB card/ASUS MB. The price includes tax and installation at my local computer dude (a good guy that I know well). Ditching my E6700/8800GTS setup but keeping my Antec 900 case and PSU. Can't wait to fire it up, should be here Wednesday. Because I'm not that bright, I ordered the i5-2500 and not the i5-2500K. I figure I'm too stupid to OC and I'd just fry my rig, but am I really missing out on that big a deal? Is OC-ing easy enough for a total boob to pull off without killing his new equipment? Should I be calling up my computer dude first thing in the morning and try to get the "K" CPU or just leave well enough alone and be happy I'm finally upgrading at all.In any case, I can't wait to ORBX-ify with the new hardware!

CPU and video mix
Just out of curiosity, and aside from the cost concerns, which is better for FSX (or even in general): an i7 and a 560 or an i5 and a 580?
