ORBX PNW Very Poor FPS

Featured Replies

Hello I have High end system:i7 OC 4.20Ghz RAM 12 G Graphic:ATI5970 2G and So on....Use FSX accelerationinstalled ORBX PNW Patch 003a and last libraryi got 60~70 fps over ORBX PNW,but around KSEA i got 12~17 fsp ,what is going wrong with this region?!!!!any replay would be appreciated

KSEA is a hog - and so is FSX, a perfect marriage! It´s normal, but your GPU could be the problem too, try with clear skies...

Indeed, not specifically FTX PNW related. Default FSX Seattle scenery is heavy on frames.

KSEA has always been a monster.. but to be honest, It is a question best asked over at ORBX forums

Unless this is another Farid, support topics have been posted at ORBX but we are still waiting for confirmation of legitimate purchase numbers so we can offer online support.Head on over to fullterrain.com and add your order numbers to your signature, Farid and we'll see what can be sorted.

Just to reinforce what everyone else is saying: ORBX PNW around KSEA is the only place that FPS is noticeably less than desirable on my system, albeit only just so. If I were willing to sacrifice IQ in any area (and I'm not) then I'm sure totally smooth FPS would be attainable.

How long does it usually take for ORBX to respond to a support question on their forums? My post has been sitting there for 7 hours and generated only 13 views with no answer so far. I guess they are all sleeping in Australia right now? I sure hope that's the reason!

Here is what John Venema the Orbx CEO has to say about it:"KSEA is surrounded by perhaps the worst performing area in FSX, even using default FSX"This is one of the reason's he gave for Orbx not proceeding further with an formerly announced payware version of KSEA.Regards, Mike Mann

Hasn't that area been known as "The Black Hole of Seattle" since day one of FSX?

Nope, nor me and I'm over there 24/7! LOL As for Seattle... sheesh, I don't even go there. 7hours? Sure, they are 10 ahead. The support over there is one of the best I have encountered. Not only helpful but very, very friendly. Get yourself over there and try again, but remember, as has already been said, include your order no in your signature. See you over there :(

I use a different screen name in the ORBX forums. Anyways a couple of suggestions for me to try have already been made.

There is a little hope, as I understand the Seattle downtown and the docks are being redone to be more frame friendly. Not sure if any other areas will be included, I am not sure when this will be released but with these new textures etc it may very well offer a little improvement.Bob

@RamirinFrom the timestamps on the forum here: Your post would have been made shortly after midnight our time.Your second post was made 07:50 local time.We are often around at night, but not routinely. I suspect you'll find tech support somewhat slower in in most other places around that time of day.Without knowing your ORBX handle, I probably can't help further than that.

I've been off sailing my boat since late March but have now returned to FSX. I guess I had forgotten how poor the FPS performance was with ORBX PACNW around the Seattle area. OR -maybe I was used to it but, after a four month break, I now can see how bad it is. I have used (since 2008) a standard test flight in a HondaJet at 2500' at 240 knots from West Point - overflying KBFI and KRNT - and south over the Green River valley. I have detailed historical data on performance from many systems and many FSX settings. My prior business (25+ years) was performance measurement and tuning for very large computer systems. ASUS P7P55D, i5-750 (OC 3.4GHz), 4GB memory, nVidia 8800GTS (OC 10%), Vista32FSX - almost everything maxed out but NO AI traffic of any kind - framerate locked at 26 (looks good to my old eyes) 2 minute flight from WestPoint to SE of KBFI - locked outside view from above and behind Default scenery 24.9 FPSORBX PAC NW scenery 14.3 FPSTile Proxy scenery 25.5 FPS I made NO change between test runs except for the scenery source. The ORBX scenery is visually stunning but that is a HUGE framerate hit.
