April 7, 200818 yr Is there an easy way to rebuild a complete Scenery.cfg from scratch? If so, how? And which scenery.cfg would that be? In FSX main? Or in 'C' with the other FSX files?Appreciate any input. Thanks.Abe
April 7, 200818 yr I would simply copy the scenery.cfg in your main FSX folder and paste it in the folder where the "working" scenery.cfg is located. This depends on the OS and Version of FSX. I have Vista32 with FSX SP2 (Acceleration) installed and my working scenery.cfg is located in C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/FSX/Scenery.cfg. I would back up or rename the "working" scenery.cfg to scenery.old first before overwriting it.Jim
April 8, 200818 yr Author Get the freeware program FSTscenery by Steve Greenwood. Should be in the file library here.Read the instruction file that comes with it. It's a very simple program that will "re-write" your scenery.cfg file based on the Scenery Library entries in the FSX Scenery Library. FSX tends to "scramble" the scenery.cfg file when adding/deleting sceneries. This program will re-generate a brand new scenery.cfg file in seconds (while backing up your old one). I find it essential to maintaining a proper scenery.cfg file with no errors in it. Hasn't failed me yet. Run it EVERY time you add or delete scenery in FSX. More often than not, your scenery.cfg file will have wrong entries for the scenery area levels, etc. This program will fix 'em all in seconds.Rick Rick Ryan
April 8, 200818 yr "Get the freeware program FSTscenery by Steve Greenwood. Should be in the file library here."I agree with Rick, FSTscenery is a great program for repairing your scenery.cfg. I have the program and it works great. I just didn't mention it as I thought you wanted a new and default scenery.cfg. You're better off getting FSTscenery if you want to fix problems with your current "working" scenery.cfg.Jim
April 8, 200818 yr Thanks guys.I agree with you about FSTscenery. I downloaded it, I'll be installing very soon. I did a post earlier on of copying my OLD FSX to a new partition of XP64. Everything went very well and my FPS increased by the average of 20+. The only discrepancy was that SOME scenery did not display, hence, my request for fixing that up. I hope that FSTscenery will fix that. Thanks again, I'll be reporting on this.Abe
April 9, 200818 yr Can someone please post a 'url'? I am having problems finding ANYTHING lately in the library. Dave Taylor
April 9, 200818 yr I too cannot find anything in the Avsim library, could someone please help.Regards.
April 9, 200818 yr Author Hmmm...I couldn't find it in the AVSIM library either. Thought I got it from here. Also, when you unzip it, it's called FSTscenery. But the zip file name is just fsscenery. Here's a link for it:http://www.home.earthlink.net/~smgreenwood...s/fsscenery.zip Rick Ryan
