Question regarding livery matching depth

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have following situation and maybe I have a wrong understanding of the topic, even after consulting the manual.

When loading up PSXT I get the message in the lower column that „United Boeing 787-10 can not be loaded“. So far, so acceptable.

Could be that I don‘t have the livery installed. But my Aircraft matching depth is set to 4.

Wouldn‘t that mean, that the program should at least try to replace it with a similar model of the airline? Let‘s say a UA 787-9?

Because at the moment the flight just doesn‘t show up at all in the sim, because it is operated by a 787-10.

Do I need to change to a different setting? But I thought matching level 4 would enable all alternative possibilities in favour for maximum traffic.

Advice would be apprecited.

What do you mean with "When loading up PSXT" ? Are you talking about static aircrfat being parked, or live aircraft?

and what do you mean with the lower column? The messages line at the bottom of the UI?

It  looks like a problem in your Simulator, not in PSXT. Although normally one gets the message "xxx cannot be created..."

PSXT does not re-match that aircraft (because it has done the match already) but your Sim is not able to spawn the aircraft.

That's why the flight does not appear at all.

You must fix the model/livery problem in your Sim.

Thank you kiek,

I now got a model of the 787-10 plus livery so psxt can successfully create and show it in the sim.

This brings me to another question though, which is also a topic in your manual, but which I don‘t quite understand.

There are several small regional airlines in the USA (Skywest, Republic, Mesa etc) which operate on behalf of the big US Airlines, even for more than one at a time.

Most of them have the livery of United, American or Delta and this often gets mixed up in the sim if for example Skywest flies with a United Airlines flight number but shows up with Delta Airlines livery because it‘s also a wetlease carrier for DL at times.

Is there a way to adjust this? I have already been playing with the matching depths 2-4 , but they often show up with the wrong livery nonetheless.

thanks.

Are you not using the (complete) AIG package? Because if you do, this problem is solved. PSXT knows how to map a regional airline to an AIG livery based on its registration code. It is independent of the callsign in use.

Btw: AIG has made some changes lately in livery names, don't know why they did that. That may lead to wrong matches.

PSXT has imported these changes now.
