How significant is FlyWithLua overhead?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I upgraded from the demo of xp11 to the full version and have installed the FlyWithLua plugin. The issue I am facing is a significant drop in fps (around 50%) without any scripts in the scripts folder of FWL. Normally I get around 30 fps on the runway and upwards of 50 fps when flying however with the plugin in my resources folder, I am at around 17 fps on the runway and a similarly low fps when flying. I have not installed any other plugins so I am unsure what's causing the issue. As soon as I disable the FlyWithLua plugin, I return to my normal fps.

My hardware: ryzen 5 5600, rx580 8gb, 32gb ram

My gpu is usually running at around 60% and the cpu at 10% - 15%. My graphics settings are quite high. Lowering AA does help however surely FWL without any scripts doesn't require that much power. If there is no fix to this issue, are there any alternative ways to execute lua scripts?

Thanks

FWL without any scripts should not cause any FPS hit. Make sure you have the correct version installed (FlyWithLuaNG for XP11).

Each Lua plugin (xlua, FlyWithLua, SASL) has its own way of interacting with X-Plane and individual limitations, so scripts are not interchangeable between plugins.

Look at the system specs in the initial post.
