Addons Linker Tool - File Selection hold

Featured Replies

Hi - I am new to using the Addons Linker tool with MSFS 2020.

I have created all my linker file trees and all is working well in the sim.

My only issue is that each time I load the sim the add-on linker menu doesn't seem to "hold" all my previous selections and I need to keep re-ticking the required boxes where selections have fallen away.

I have tried hitting the save button each time I add or change a selection but this doesn't seem to make it "hold" the selection.

Any advice appreciated please.

Hello 🍻

Not sure i understand correctly because AL does not save your selections. It's all done automatically based on what links are currently present in your real community folder.

So let's say you have 3 addons 'A', 'B', 'C' and you link 'A', 'B' (those two links will be created in the real community folder) and the you close AL. when you restart AL those 2 addons will still show up in green because the tool will detect that the link is in the real community folder. Had you removed the link manually with Windows explorer then they would show in RED as unlinked. So yeah nothing is saved it just shows the current situation of your folders.

So i'm not sure if this helps you at all because maybe i haven't understood your question correctly (maybe you are talking about presets ?), send me maybe some screenshots (or even better a little video) showing exactly your issues. If you are new with the tool check also maybe some YT videos, they explain very well how all should work and you might then see if what you see on your end is normal or not.

Let me know thank you.

Thanks - sorry I wasn't clear. I think the problem may be related to folders that are not fully unzipped. I'm going through each one now looking for red ink! Thanks for your help
