I'm tempted to head to Lelystad for the Flight Sim Weekend, but I just wondered what to expect at an event like this. 

I've never been to one before and didn't know if it was worth my time.

• Are there opportunities to buy loads of hardware etc, or is it just a showcase?
• Would a couple of hours be enough? I live fairly close to LHR, so I have quite a lot of flexibility with flight times, etc. 
• I don't think I'm overly interested in anything in the theatre. Truthfully, I'd prefer just to read any headlines in a bar.

@MikeV1, myself,  Pete and John Dowson have been a few times. From Heathrow you fly to Schiphol from where you get the train to Lelystad. 45 minute journey. It’s a 10 minute bus ride to the show.

That was 2018. There were several hardware companies there. Skalarki and Virtual Fly being the most popular. There was a nice setup for flying an Airbus.

Chance to meet with developers. It’s doable in a day. Pete and I did it in a day around 13 years ago but we were a lot younger. It was hard going.

If you buy anything bear in mind it has to go on a plane. Plus Customs will want info. Use it as a place to try before you buy from home.
