February 15, 20251 yr Hello, I'm tempted to head to Lelystad for the Flight Sim Weekend, but I just wondered what to expect at an event like this. I've never been to one before and didn't know if it was worth my time. Are there opportunities to buy loads of hardware etc, or is it just a showcase? Would a couple of hours be enough? I live fairly close to LHR, so I have quite a lot of flexibility with flight times, etc. I don't think I'm overly interested in anything in the theatre. Truthfully, I'd prefer just to read any headlines in a bar. Thanks, Mike
February 16, 20251 yr Moderator @MikeV1, myself, Pete and John Dowson have been a few times. From Heathrow you fly to Schiphol from where you get the train to Lelystad. 45 minute journey. It’s a 10 minute bus ride to the show. That was 2018. There were several hardware companies there. Skalarki and Virtual Fly being the most popular. There was a nice setup for flying an Airbus. Chance to meet with developers. It’s doable in a day. Pete and I did it in a day around 13 years ago but we were a lot younger. It was hard going. If you buy anything bear in mind it has to go on a plane. Plus Customs will want info. Use it as a place to try before you buy from home. Ray (Cheshire, England).
