MCE Button Control ! How ?

Featured Replies

I have owned MCE for several years now!
After a longer flight simulator break I have now switched from p3d to MSFS ...
Of course I immediately installed MCE (v 3.1.2.0) ....
I wanted to use the function 'Button Control' but I have no idea how to activate this feature !?!

Extract from the manual:

For those who for some reason, either do not want to talk to a computer, or don’t have the
confidence to speak aviation English, we have built a button control feature that can be used either
exclusively or alongside voice control
.
You are in button control when either these conditions are met
- You do not have the speech engine installed
- Speech engine is installed but you decided to mute speech recognition.
MCE button control is simple and effective.
There are 3 buttons, F, C & R

.

My question now:
What do I have to do to get the buttons : F C R in the upper left corner as I could see on some screenshots and I can control MCE with buttons (mouseclicks) instead of voice commands ?
Which settings exactly do I have to make ?

I am grateful for any help 🙂

Please read document.

Windows Start->Multi Crew Experience->Button Control English (PDF document)

Not available for every single plane.

When you see "F", "C" and "R" buttons showing, they give you the option to use button control in addition to voice control.

Since the flight phase is worked out automatically, whenever you want the checklist, just press "C" button ( a second press cancels it).

Whenever you want to trigger a flow, press the "F" button ( a second press cancels it).

The "R" (for Requests) button will provide a list box containing requests you could make like "start engine one", close doors", or even call a specific checklist section.

The checklist feature in button control is a "passive audio experience". There will be a voice that will impersonate you and reply to co-pilot challenges since you aren't expected to reply with your voice.

If you prefer to always operate in "Button Control", best to edit "mce.ini" config and have "UsingButtonControl=1"

Normally, when MCE detects there is no speech reco capability due to missing English speech engine, it would apply automatically

Hello Gerald,

thank you very much for the quick reply!
Yes, I have read the document - I even quoted from it 😉
I also changed the mce.ini first (‘UsingButtonControl=1’)
Probably the problem is:
Not available for every single plane !

This probably means that it does not work with generic aeroplanes ? (PC-12)
