April 4, 200719 yr http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/2007/...production.htmlViking Air, who hold the type certificates for several de Havilland Canada aircraft, has confirmed that it will restart production of the DHC-6 Twin Otter. The new production run will include upgraded engines and a glass cockpit. They are also exploring demand for Beaver and single-engine Otter.I'm pretty excited by this news, firstly because the Twin Otter is a fantastic plane and secondly because Viking Air is just up the road from me at Victoria International (CYYJ). A couple of local operators fly float versions of the Twin Otter (and the Beaver and Turbo Otter as well) between downtown Victoria and Vancouver. They're just beautiful planes.
April 4, 200719 yr It sounds like they might restart the Beaver production too.Interesting article._____________________________http://home.comcast.net/~jsnyder99/sigs/nameavsim.jpgPersonal Photo/Aviation Website
April 4, 200719 yr >It sounds like they might restart the Beaver production too.>Would this be Turbo Beaver or regular piston-engined Beaver? Is that piston engine even in production anymore?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
