September 1, 200817 yr I tried to find the ground texture files being used in FSX. I'm pretty sure I have the right folder -- scenery/world/texture -- but when I try to open any of the bitmaps, they all seem to be encrypted or at least unreadable. This is true for both GEX textures and the default textures in my GEX-backup folder. Is there any way to actually see the images? I do have the photoshop dds plug-in installed already althought I'm not sure that makes a difference.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Roy
September 1, 200817 yr Hi Roy, you'll need a special editor to open and save the DDS textures. If you have the deluxe version of FXS, imagetool is located within the SDKs, or just d/l DXTBmp from herehttp://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/Regards, MichaelKDFW Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 / AMD Best, Michael KDFW
September 3, 200817 yr The free DirectX SDK should help if you do not have the Deluxe version of FSX that includes the SDK, and also look at the open source GIMP editor and its DDS filters.Etienne
