September 19, 200817 yr A pal of mine who is a Concorde fanatic is thinking of getting into Flight Simulator for the first time simply to fly this aircraft. OK, I did nudge him a little. Big learning curve ahead, for sure, but I'll give him a hand. :)This said, I have rarely flown the aircraft myself to date, despite my admiration of the thing; simply because I tend to fly low and slow most of the time, and haven't paid much attention to the various flightsim versions. So I post just to ask the advice of those who know: what are the Concorde options for FSX (if any), either freeware or payware? Thanks muchly for any input...MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
September 20, 200817 yr Hello Mark, hope your well?'SSTsim' are currently developing their Concorde for FSX and if it's half as good as the FS9 version, it will be awesome! Dave Taylor

September 20, 200817 yr Author Hi Mark,Nice to see you posting again :)As far as I am aware, there is only one Concorde package around at the moment that can be used in FSX. It's by Eric Buchmann and I believe it's based on fsfrance's model (Textures By: Team at www.fsfrance.com): http://www.fsdome.com/showpage.php?url=htt.../aircraft_1.htmClick on 'Search & Database' and then next to Search only in: select 'FSX Aircraft' and next to Search for: print 'Concorde'The file is fsxcncrd.zipThere are a few problems with this a/c not the least of which is the requirement to load one of the default FSX a/c with engines running before loading the Concorde. The other problem I encountered was the inability to see out of some of the windows. This was resolved by loading the glass texture, in this case "Glass_T.bmp" into DXTBmp. At the top of the DXTBmp window click the "alpha" button. Then on the menu click "create Alpha Channel (Black)" Click yes. Then save. Copy the new texture into each of the Concorde texture folders - there are 5 variations. It's far from being perfect, but should keep your friend happy until the real deal is released.Regards,MikeEdit: You can wander around the virtual cabin in this one :)
