Jet Lands Safely After Reports of Smoke

A safe ending, but I can just imagine the passenger chaos at Dulles right now. UA 897 is the non-stop Dulles to Beijing.May 25, 2007 - 2:32pmWASHINGTON - A passenger jet on its way to Beijing returned to Dulles Airport after reports of flames coming out of an engine at takeoff. United Airlines flight 897 had an engine flame-out, soon after it took off at 12:55 p.m. The 747 has four engines, and can fly safely with three, but the decision was made to bring the plane back, rather than send it across the ocean. The plane dumped fuel before it landed safely. United says flight 897 had 330 passengers and 19 crew onboard. The airline's working with passengers at Dulles to help them eventually get to Beijing.
