VOR frequency not indicating DME...

Featured Replies

Good morning Alex.

I have been flying in and out of Spain a number of times recently using VOR to VOR in my flight plan.

I note that changing frequency to tune BLV (Bilbao) on 117.65 it does not indicate as DME (distance) although it shows as a waypoint.

Any ideas why?

Not hugely important - just curious!

Ken.

Hi Ken,

there is no waypoint BLV. This is a VORDME and in the latest Navigraph cycle it has a frequency of 117.65 MHz. In the most likely outdated P3D data it is shifted to the West and has a frequency of 115.90 MHz. Normally it should give a DME indication in both cases.

Thanks, Alex...

on my next visit to Spain I will try the alternate 115.90 you mention  and see what happens.

I have a subscription to Navigraph so always have the bang-up-to-date data there but the P3D data could well be the 'culprit'.

As previously stated "not hugely important" - curiosity satisfied 😎.

You probably already know but just to be sure:
Update the LNM database too with the latest cycle.
Check the LNM window title if it shows the latest cycle.
Set "Select automatically" in LNM menu "Scenery Library" -> "Navigraph".

Then you should see the correct frequency in LNM.
