x-plane 12not working properly with P2ATC3

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have been using p2atc version 3, for the last 3 months. It worked wonderful. In the last week, something has changed and I can't hear the atc orders and answers. All I get is text notices, which are coming together with a novice like a "jet engine" 🤣. How could I fix the problem ?

Thanks

Just asked my copilot and he answered:

1. Check Audio Output Settings

  • Go to X-Plane Settings > Sound and ensure the correct audio output device is selected.

  • Make sure the volume sliders for ATC and speech are turned up.

2. Verify Speech Synthesis Installation

  • P2ATC relies on Microsoft Speech SDK 5.1 for voice output. If this was uninstalled or corrupted, voices may stop working.

  • You candownload and reinstall the Speech SDK to ensure it's properly set up.

3. Conflict with Sound Effects

  • Some users have found that sound cards can't play speech and sound effects simultaneously. Try disabling sound effects temporarily to test this:

    • In X-Plane, go to Settings > Sound and lower or mute sound effects.

    • Restart the sim and check if ATC voices return.

4. P2ATC Audio Configuration

  • Open P2ATC and go to Config > Voices.

  • Make sure a valid voice is selected and test it using the “Say It” button.

  • Also check the volume mixer in Windows to ensure P2ATC isn’t muted.

5. Windows Sound Settings

  • Right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar > Sounds > Playback Devices.

  • Ensure your primary output device is set as default and working properly.

  • Check if other apps are interfering with audio routing.

I suddenly had this problem yesterday, too. My solution: I simply reinstalled the latest update (0.2.2A) and, lo and behold, everything works perfectly again.
