I think “awful” is a bit too strong — it’s a word better used for things that are really bad. For example, MSFS default traffic is awful because it has so many bugs 😁😁. But I understand your point and partly agree with it. Let me explain how I see it: BATC – the voices sound really cool, they give you that feeling and excitement like you’re Goose in Top Gun. You get a very positive impression when you hear the right tone and decibels — it’s not harsh noise, but something enjoyable. FSHud is a different story. Before version 2, especially at the initial release, the voices were truly “awful” — slow, robotic, and unrealistic. No matter how much you polish it, black won’t turn white, it just stays gray. Even now, FSHud voices are harder on the ear. The tone is less pleasant, and sometimes the speech is unclear, which can be frustrating. On the other hand, if you listen to real ATC conversations (like on YouTube), you’ll hear almost the same noisy, harsh voices with nothing “cool” about them. For me, that’s actually a positive — I prefer realism over “superhero” gameplay vibes. SI is more mixed. Sometimes the voices sound so realistic that you might think it’s a real recording rather than AI-generated. But other times, it feels more like BATC. What I haven’t noticed is calmer, more relaxed voices — maybe I missed them. Instead, it often feels like every controller is overly excited, as if it’s their very first day on the job.
August 21, 2025Aug 21 I'm heading back to FSHud today from SI. I'm trading in voices and accents for not having aircraft taxying into me almost 100% of the time. I'm generally positive about SI and will return when the traffic injection is a little more realistic. Edited August 21, 2025Aug 21 by Langeveldt

I'm fully agree! FSHud is really more closer to realistic conversation, exactly as I have in real life but you should tune the settings (sound effects). Maybe some of the accents is not perfect, but most I hear during my recent flight in EU was 90% like in real life! In BATC I feel myself more in the "game", and also some accents, like Italian one I get, omg, it's was really... Don't want to say that word, but I don't like it! And of course I talk about free voices! But no, most of them is good, some of them from USA was really realistic! So it's all depends! But, BATC is really very slow, there should be some problems on the server... So I'm getting back to FSHud!
