September 6, 2025Sep 6 I have just bought myself the 777F PMDG from the Marketplace MSFS24. I downloaded some liveries for the 777f from Flightsim.to and put them in to my Community folder as ususal. But only with this Aircraft I have the Problem that not a Single Livery will appear. I downloaded DHL, AeroLogic and Lufthansa Cargo. Can anyone help me?
September 6, 2025Sep 6 Not sure, but I think you need to import the liveries via the Operations Center 3, not just drop them into the Community folder. September 6, 2025Sep 6 Yes, PMDG changed the format for 2024 so they need to be the zip files installed through OC3, no more dropping things in the community folder. MSFS 2024. September 6, 2025Sep 6 That is actually not true. Most VAs don't care about products like pmdgs oc or other livery managers and just give you normal community folder drop in liveries. I myself created a livery for our VA and never used oc. But you have to follow 2024 livery creation. And sadly depending on which "native" mode the product is using there are different ways to arrange files. The 777F follows the new full native approach.
September 7, 2025Sep 7 @Torsen That's very interesting, but could I ask that you clarify matters a bit. The OP indicated that drag and drop of liveries to the Community folder did not yield the desired result. So how do we actually make that happen? Many thanks. Let me try to bring some light into the topic. It actually depends on the livery and how its was created and for what version of product. There are currently three main sorts of liveries available for 2024: 1. Standard 2020 liveries without any change that are for products running in 2020 compatibility mode. For example if you run the old non native package of inis a300 package. These use the complete old file structure including aircraft.cfg and even textures in DDS format. 2. The second category I call "legacy native" liveries that actually follow the old 2020 way of livery creation including aircraft.cfg and just only use the new file format .kxt2 instead of old .dds. That would be packages like the JustFlight RJ offering for example that are sold as native but are not full native (But as there is no real definition of what is native, fully native or partly native 2024, behind the curtain in the creator realm the term legacy native was popping up and it describes it quite good). So they use just parts of the 2024 benefits but rely a lot on the 2020 model. 3. Fully native 2024 liveries that are needed for full native products with new folder structure and using the livery.cfg as the point of config. These are for example the new ini a300 package (in contrast to the just compatible in point 1) and exactly the pmdg 777F. In the end you have to check what the livery is made for as they are totally incompatible between the three listed product types. And without having a hint what livery was used in the case of the OP I can't tell if it should work or not. But there is no need to use oc or livery managers for any of the three types. Though you can do that way also. But again its in the hands of the livery creator to do so. The SDK doc plus the products paintkit doc should lead you in the right way then. PS I heared rumors that there is one subpar dev out there who is actually trying to kill free liveries. But I would not follow this scam approach with a single cent and the products speak luckily for themselves. But that's as usual a completely personal opinion 😉 Cheers T.
