September 8, 2025Sep 8 I'm using FSR500 in Win10, MSFS 2024, and a Logitech 3D Extreme joystick. It runs well and I like it. Is there any way I can get into beta mode using the simple joystick with an unused keyboard key or button combination eg. B1+B2? I'm trying to keep my setup as simple as possible. I tried using Hold Reverse Thrust, Hold Propeller Thrust and Toggle Feather Switches without success. I can't activate beta mode using them.

Hi... sure there is a simple way to switch your throttle axis to use the beta up to reverse range. You can bind the command "TOGGLE THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST" to one of your buttons or a key. This will switch between the "normal" thrust axis part and the "beta/reverse" axis part. So if you are on ground and in idle just hit the button or key and the throttle axis will then just do the beta part. To get out of it back to idle and press button/key again. The FSR500 is def best hold in beta range for taxi like in real world. That should be the easiest way for your minimal preferred setup. More info and alternative ways of config actually can be found in the manual or on Rauls Discord. Cheers and have fun flying the 500! T.

(hope you don't mind a little digression) ... would you happen to know how to go over the maximum throttle axis in MSFS 2024 without using a 3rd party app (eg. to get to the 850 mode in the TBM 850... it's like the opposite of beta range)?

The Blacksquares 850 mode is actually quite special as its not an extension of the throttle axis but a mode triggered by the flaps lever (which I think as far as I remember can be triggered by an event but non default for sure). So the flaps lever has to be zero and can be moved into the 850 mode then. And the mode is allowed only in flying conditions like climb etc not for takeoff. The 500 has a derated engine so it actually could deliver quite some more power and you have to be careful to stay in the normal range of operations or you toast the engine. So you actually never would even think about going outside of the normal throttle range as this is already limited by parameters like torque ITT etc. Actually don't know what you want to achieve but imho not possible without 3rp party tools. Cheers T.

Probably not possible since config files cannot be edited and also unrealistic without modification to the props like in real life: Blackhawk Group Tapped for Piper Meridian Mods | Aviation International News (I'm also trying to figure out how to do it using the Logitech joystick for the TBM.)

Ah ok. No good idea then 😉 The FSR500 is developed around normal axis and with wear and tear on you can't even go full axis now as in real life. The 500 can hold its power on climb longer though cause of this setup. Its def not as sporty as the 850 but still a nice fast cruiser. For the TBM please check the manual of the 850, it should mention the Lvars avail for the mode. But you will need a tool in place then. Cheers T.

I used HOTAS, FSUIPC, Joystick Gremlin and what-have-you for DCS and now in life, just trying to simplify everything. The end goal is to do it all in a laptop someday with a simple controller. Wishful thinking perhaps 🙂
