I'm probably in a very small club that still runs a Windows XP netbook exclusively to feed data to my weather website. On Saturday I noticed I couldn't access the data on it from a Windows 11 laptop. I need the link to feed the info into an Access database to analyse the data.

This process has worked perfectly well for many years until Saturday.

I did some searching and found KB5065426 is responsible. I uninstalled it but of course Windows wants to install it. More research and I discovered a utility provided by Microsoft that will block selected updates from being installed - wushowhide.diagcab.

Except they've withdrawn it for reasons unknown with no alternative yet available. Fortunately other sites have it and I was able to download it. Having uninstalled the update I then ran this utility and it displayed the problem KB.

I've now blocked it from updating. This is very useful for any updates that interfere with your systems.
