In the FSX Coolsky DC-9, there is no specific "autothrottle arming button" in the traditional sense; the autothrottle system functions by setting the desired speed on the speed selector and arming the appropriate autopilot mode when you are on an approach. When you are preparing for an ILS or a non-precision approach, you would manually select the desired speed for the approach on the speed window, and the autothrottle will automatically maintain that speed, according to the Coolsky website.

How the DC-9 Autothrottle System Works
  1. Approach Only:
The autothrottle system on the Coolsky DC-9 is designed specifically for use during the approach phase of flight.

  2. Speed Selection:
You set the specific approach speed (VREF) on the speed selector on the autopilot panel.

  3. Autopilot Engagement:
You can then engage the autopilot's speed mode to have the autothrottle system maintain the selected speed.

  4. No Takeoff/Cruise Use:
This system does not control thrust during the takeoff climb, cruise, or other phases of the flight, according to the Coolsky website.

Where to Find the Controls

  • Autopilot Panel:
The speed selector and autopilot controls are located on the autopilot panel in the cockpit.
  • Manual Engagement:
You will need to manually adjust the autopilot to select the appropriate mode for the desired speed.
