External-view gauges in INTERNAL view - possible?

Featured Replies

For the landing approach in airliners I find the glass cockpit screens hard to read. But at the same time I dont want to set a view that has me jammed up against the panel like my nose is touching the windscreen.

As we all know, in external view we see these gauges:

I was wondering if it would be possible to have them appear like this from the flight deck view of ANY airplane. after pressing a hotkey combo.

I did this in MS Paint just to illustrate:

Would anyone know how to do this? A file I can edit, a mod you know about? Perhaps even a universal HUD mod that appears for ANY plane (this is what X-Plane 12 has).

Thanks for your time.

MSFS 2020: "Options->Assistance options->User experience->Instrument Heads-Up Display-Cockpit Cam"
MSFS 2024: "Settings->General->Flight Interface->HUD in Cockpit View"
should give you a HUD view in the cockpit, albeit only a reduced one.

Also, check if the desired instrument can be undocked - hold down the right hand Alt key and click into the gauge. If successful, you get a separate floating window with just the gauge in it. This should work for the main glass cockpit screens in pretty much all aircraft.

For custom instruments you would have to use external software, where you design your own separate Instruments. Like "Air Manager" or my own "AxisAndOhs". Those gauges do not depend on the simulator view, they are always floating above the simulators window, regardless of the selected camera.

@Lorby_SI thanks for your comment. I will follow those instructions and get back on here to report.

That screenshot bring back FSX memories when I used to make my own "Landing Panel" using that Flight1 gauge designer.

Your solution would be great, just have the gauges pop up no matter what sim.
