October 22, 2025Oct 22 After recently catching RockOla's (nice) MSFS2024 Airbus A350 post...🙂... (see it, if you wish), I wished to fly the A350 myself in my Xbox system (to increase my Return on the (sizeable) Investment...🙂...). As I was then looking through my Add-on Repaint Packs (2 European and 1 Asian) that I'd purchased in the Marketplace for the iniBuilds A350, the Thai Airways livery caught my attention. I do not recall ever flying Thai Airways in MSFS (either in 2020 or 2024). However, I distinctly recall flying it, in my earlier SIMs, especially the airliners from its historic fleet such as DC-8/DC-9/DC-10/MD-11 (btw, we need the DC-8 and DC-10 in our MSFS...it feels a bit lonely around here without them...🙂...at least for some of us legacy a/c enthusiasts). Anyway, here we go, as I fly the A350-900 ULR in this post; lifting off Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (VTBS), flying northward, CCW, around the peripheral borders of Thailand (see shots below of the nice iniBuilds EFB Map, and the MSFS EFB (terrain) Map). As you may notice, I've created 4 custom waypoints on the MSFS World Map and then inserted their corresponding LAT/LONG co-ordinates directly into the MCDU F-PLN page (waypoint IDs LL11, LL12, LL13, LL14; see my cockpit ND Route display). This customized (FMC) route helped my precise (managed mode) navigation as intended around the country, overflying some of Thailand's mountains which are primarily located along the northern and the western borders of the country. These mountains are not very tall (< 8,500 ft), but are known to be very pretty, characterized by dense vegetations, rolling ridges, and picturesque valleys (see a few images, below). Once, I used to have a friend whose spouse was from Thailand, and I've seen plenty such (RW) pictures...🙂...from their annual visits to Thailand. These mountains may not display the steepness and heights of the Rockies and the Alps (nor the Andes of my previous post...🙂...) but appeared similar to the Appalachians of eastern U.S. in their structural beauty and appeal. Landing into VTBS (ILS) Runway 20L was a bit confusing, because of recent renumbering of the runways at this airport, necessitated by Earth's magnetic field shifts, which in turn alter a runway's magnetic heading. I have provided below bit of (AI) notes that may be of interest if you ever wish to fly into (or out of) Bangkok's International Airport (VTBS). "The runways at VTBS (Suvarnabhumi International Airport) were renumbered on October 3, 2024, because a new third runway was added. The new runway was designated as 02L/20R. As a result, the two existing runways were renamed to avoid confusion and maintain accurate designations, with 01R/19L becoming 01/19 and 01L/19R becoming 02R/20L." It's important to note the date (October 3, 2024) when the runways were re-designated. Those of us who had dived into MSFS2024...right away after release without any forethought...🙂...would recall that MSFS24 was released on November 19, 2024, (I'd jumped in on November 20, the day after that tumultuous first day...🙂...). Anyway, the MSFS 2024 release occurred just a month-and-half after the VTBS Runways were renumbered (leading to some of these confusions in the current SIM). Nonetheless, the (iniBuilds) ultra-modern Airbus A350 performed flawlessly on my Xbox today (within my domain of knowledge; wish it were that simple in RW...🙂...). And for landing, it all also worked out well for me as I ended up making a nice and smooth touchdown on one of the ILS Runways...🙂...at VTBS airport (see my concluding images, below). From takeoff to touchdown, I greatly enjoyed this flight and this a/c, and I hope you too enjoy the collection of images of this A350-900 ULR flying in the command of yours truly, in the attractive and artistic livery of Thai Airways. The (colorful) Thai Airways logo on the tail fin features a decorative, curved symbol that represents the traditional Thai gesture of greeting (wai) used when saying hello and goodbye; so, "wai" to you all...🙂...reading my post here... Thanks for viewing and happy flying...!
