October 27, 2025Oct 27 Sherlock Holmes fictional master criminal was based on this real life "Napoleon of Crime", Adam Worth. He was more charismatic than the sour reptilian character Sir Arthur created. But even more daring and ambitious. https://www.amazon.com/dp/0374218994#averageCustomerReviewsAnchor ------- Francis Tumblety was arrested twice in his life. Once on suspicion of helping James Wilkes Booth murder Abraham Lincoln, and then later on suspicion of being Jack the Ripper. Like Worth, he was a real charmer and confidence man. https://www.amazon.com/Prince-Quacks-Notorious-Tumblety-Charlatan/dp/0786444339 ------ As my poor Victorian joke about Newgate Prison might suggest (small, medium large), I love all things Victorian. Especially their literature. But also their politicians, and luminaries. Most of my stash of movie DVD's are by Victorian authors' BBC adaptions. For instance, they made separate multi episode series of all fifteen of Dickens' Novels. And zillions more from other authors from 1837-1901. My favorite literary character (God Bless Holmes) took out his revolver and shot a series of holes in the wall, spelling out VR (Queen Victoria's initials). It was not to help solve a crime, but just a burst of patriotism. Watson thought he was mad to do it ! 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
