December 21, 2025Dec 21 In my previous post, I'd illustrated the Boeing 777X, the upcoming, newest, largest version of Boeing's popular 777 wide-body jetliner, featuring next-gen technologies such as the folding wingtips (folding wingtips feature is however not modelled in the simplistic rendition of the 777-8, that I'm using here). In that post, I'd also indicated that the (larger) 777-9 Pax variant is confirmed to be launched by Lufthansa within a year or two. The Boeing 777-9 will be currently the longest commercial airliner ever built, measuring nearly 252 feet long. For comparison, I've shown a simple Bar Chart (see shot #2 below) showing some of the longest airliners of today's aviation, all spanning longer than 200 ft length. We note that, "The Boeing 777X is being certified as a derivative under the existing 777 type certificate, meaning pilots will likely share the same type rating as the standard 777, despite significant upgrades like new wings and engines, due to similar cockpit design and handling characteristics. This approach, using an amended type certificate, allows for streamlined pilot training compared to a completely new type rating, though rigorous testing is still required for the new features." The (smaller) 777-8 variant of the 777X family is primarily finding traction as the 777-8 Freighter (777-8F), with major cargo operators like Qatar Airways (the launch customer), Cargolux, Lufthansa Cargo, ANA Cargo etc. So, for this post, I wished to complete a (short) 2nd flight of the 777-8, as I fly it here from Dubai Airport (OMDB) to the main Hub of Qatar Airways, Doha Airport (OTHH), on the Persian Gulf. Hope you enjoy this collection of pictures of the 777-8, as it is flying across a stretch of the Persian Gulf, in the evening light. Thanks for viewing...! Edited December 21, 2025Dec 21 by P_7878

Yes, it's a minimalist rendition of the 777X that I found in the MSFS2024 Marketplace (Developer is MSCENERY). I would place this SIM at the level of freeware, feeling almost same as all the freeware B787s and A350s that I'd got to fly long (long) before we got to actually see these airliners in our SIM. Essentially, the SIM is a longer version of the 777 with the Asobo 787 cockpit...🙂... Nonetheless, being always interested in the 777X, I wished to fly it just to satisfy my curiosity, considering, we'll not see it in near future, from the likes of PMDG...🙂... Agree, the airplane has an impressive appearance. BTW, these 777-8 (freighters), Lufthansa is expected to receive, in addition to their (pax) 777-9s. The 777X is being developed in 3 variants: 777-8, 777-8F, 777-9. Cheers...!
