Question about updates?

Featured Replies

I'm confused?

When ever I start the sim the Bell on top of the page shows a Blue Dot, indicating there is an update in que. But, When I go to the update manager all updates say " Installed" After when I go back the Blue Dot has dissapeared, Why is this?

Can anyone explain?

Hi:

I believe that's just a Notification indication...about something new for you to look at...

I checked on my MSFS2024 just now, and I noticed an orange icon for myself. When I clicked on it, it showed a pop-up with two notifications about upgraded liveries of repaint packs (C208 and A320V2) that I'd purchased from the MSFS2020 Marketplace.

On looking further into My Library, I see that C208 repaint pack been previously rendered "Permanently Incompatible" (for MSFS2024), while the Marketplace now has an upgraded version of the same C208 livery pack (for MSFS2024), being sold to me at $1.99 or rented at $0.99. Whether I do get the upgraded pack or not, the dot has meanwhile disappeared.

When you click on the dot (before going to the Content Manager), do you see the specific listing of the new items or/and messages?

P_7878,

Thanks for your reply. I'll try to click the dot which in FS2020 is Blue; I can only guess that in 2024 it's Orange. Yes there is a list of updates and content when I hover the mouse over it. ( Items). After which when I go back the dot dissapears

I see...You're on MSFS2020...Anyway, today, on my MSFS2024, I had the orange dot next to the bell, but I have also seen the blue dot in the past.

AI tells me as follows about the meaning of the colored dots (what shall we do w/o AI...🙂...) ...Though, the upgrade notification for the C208 liveries did not signify a particularly high priority alert for me today...🙂...Oh well...it was good to know...

  • Orange/Red Dot: This usually signifies a high-priority or active alert, such as a marketplace update, a "live weather" notification, or a critical system message. In some scenarios, a red/orange dot indicates a recommended restriction or a warning regarding the current flight (e.g., live weather conflict).
  • Blue Dot: This typically represents a general unread notification or an updated item in your inbox. In the context of the marketplace or menus, it may highlight new content, a new feature, or a message that has not yet been viewed.

Thank you for your fallow up and explanations. I had read somewhere and sometime ago an explanation regarding the colored dots. But with all the exitement of starting the sim and beginning a flight, one quickly forgets. I include an image of my question regarding the Content manager
