I need to fire the mechanic, all he does is ruin Better Pushback, I am in X-Plane 12.  He is driving me mad.

In general, the mechanic will only do things when verbally instructed. It's not automated behaviour. If you never call him with "ground from flight deck", or "cockpit to ground", he won't even turn up and all requests will be declined.

If you want to completely get rif of him, check your custom flows and remove any "cockpit to ground" commands fron the flows.

And if you even trigger a "cockpit to ground" command verbally by accident, just ay "ground you may disconnect" or "mechanic you may leave" and you'll get rid of him.

Normally, he integrates with BetterPushback. But with all add-ons in constant evolution, I wouldn't rule out that latest changes to BetterPushback would affect him in a negative way fitting what you are observing.
