February 28Feb 28 I'm dipping my toes into the MSFS career, and apparently, that mode restricts what toolbar utilities it allows. Irritating. I have the AAO EFB running, but I can't seem to get the ATC bridge working. Any thoughts on workarounds?

TMBK there are no workarounds; career mode not only restricts the toolbar, but other things as well. If I'm not mistaken, this mode is actually (the good old) missions in a nice wrapper. In missions the normal flightsim assets (like ATC) don't exist. Edited February 28Feb 28 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
March 2Mar 2 Author The ATC communications window exists and populates with options, now in SU4, just like in free-flight. That was why I was tempted to try to find a hack to get the bridge working. Maybe they'll open it up someday. If someone wants to "cheat" in the career, I fail to see the harm. It's not exactly an e-sport...
March 2Mar 2 Commercial Member It is my understanding that this is not an extra mechanism against cheating. It is just how missions have always worked. I believe that they are in essence recordings with trigger points. None of the dynamic features (like ATC, Weather) work with that. It should be possible to hook into the ATC dialog window directly. If it really is the same one and not another dialog that just looks the same. And if it is not encrypted. Not sure. Edited March 2Mar 2 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
March 2Mar 2 Author Interesting. Do you have any suggestions on how to test if the ATC communication is just a “look-alike”? If it’s the original, how could I establish a bridge without launching the bridge panel on the toolbar?

It is entirely possible that the ATC Bridge module itself is indeed working, but you don't have a way of accessing the web page that displays the data (which is what the ingame panel does). Try opening the web page with your browser, then you will know (last item in the Gauges menu in AAO) Edited March 2Mar 2 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
March 2Mar 2 Author In free flight the webpage is visible, but not populated with options until I activate the atc tower icon in the toolbar. At that point the web page updates and displays the atc choices.
March 2Mar 2 Author In career, the web page displays, but I can never get the atc options to populate.

I don't know if it is possible to implement the bridge as a plugin or standalone item. At the moment I don't have the time to look into that, but I will try to keep it in mind. What about the EFB tablet, is that available in Career mode? Edited March 2Mar 2 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
March 2Mar 2 Author Yes, the tablet is available. I display an X-touch overlay on it and it can display web pages as well, even in career. No worries if you don’t have time, I just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss an easy fix.

OK, so the general idea would be to try and make another EFB app that acts as the ATC bridge, maybe with its own dialog as well. That shouldn't be too hard, but it is most likely a significant effort nevertheless. Edited March 2Mar 2 by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
