March 30Mar 30 Hi, I recently switched from Windows to Linux (Fedora distro) and am still grasping the ropes. Step by step I'm trying to get my flight sim setup up and running. Yesterday I installed AAO with Wine and ran into two problems. The program itself starts and seems to run fine, except that I can't see the menus (they are there but the text is not readable) and AAO is not connecting to MSFS24 (Steam version). Dependencies (Dotnet 4.8 and VCredist2022) are installed via my Wine prefix, so that shouldn't be the reason. Does anyone have experience with running AAO under Linux?
April 3Apr 3 Author So after fiddeling around for some days I finally seem to have AAO running under Linux. The menu issue was solved rather quickly (seemed to be an issue with the fonts). Getting AAO to connect to the sim was trickier and it was pure incident I found a solution. Initially I had the same problem with FSUIPC 7. When starting FSUIPC with the sim, it couldn't "see" the sim running. But when auto-launching FSUIPC via the exe.xml it would connect without any problem. So I edited the exe.xml to have AAO auto-started with MSFS. And lo and behold: AAO connected instantly.wwww Perhaps (and probably) there's a more elegant solution, but as long as it works I'm fine with my way.
