ESC/Keyboard Input dead in Cockpit – all aircraft

Featured Replies

Problem:
Since a recent update, ESC key and keyboard input is completely non-functional in the cockpit for ALL aircraft except the Fenix A320. Mouse camera movement still works. The simulation runs normally but UI is frozen/unresponsive.
System:

MSFS 2024 v1.7.27 (Steam)
Windows 11
NVIDIA GPU
WINCTRL URSA MINOR 32 Joystick

Affected aircraft:

All default aircraft (Cessna 172 etc.)
INIBUILDS aircraft
PMDG aircraft
Fenix A320 works perfectly

Already tried:

Disabled all overlays (Steam, Xbox Game Bar, NVIDIA)
Empty Community folder
Fullscreen mode
Disabled FSUIPC7 in EXE.xml
Disabled StreamDeck software
Reset UserCfg.opt
Disabled fullscreen optimizations + run as Administrator
Cockpit Interaction System only shows „Classic" or „Lock" – Modern option missing completely

Key observation:
The Fenix A320 uses its own input system and works fine. All other aircraft using the native MSFS interaction system are affected. The „Modern Interaction System" option is completely missing from settings.
Question:
Has anyone solved this? Could the missing „Modern" option in Cockpit Interaction System be the root cause?

Yes, it's known and widely experienced (but not by everyone).

It happens to me about 1 in every 5 launches of the sim. Very frustrating.  The only confirmed way of resolving it at this point, is to close MSFS via the Task Manager and restart.

Yes, "solved".  Kinda.  Solution: make sure you switch to another keyboard profile in MSFS 2024.
Here's a beta-test report involving an MSFS 2024 aircraft.

Problem: I'm reporting this in case you get reports from other users (if you haven't already). I don't want to call it an aircraft bug because it may be an MSFS 2024 input handling bug that causes the keyboard to stop sending events to the sim. The issue is an unresponsive keyboard using the aircraft and because this is the 3rd time it happened to me over several days. I tested this in 2 different PCs (Windows 11 with a 5080 gpu which shares peripherals via a KVM unit with a WIndows 10 Pro with a 3060 ti gpu).

- The problem is isolated to the aircraft in MSFS 2024 only (the issue was not present in default planes eg. the Cessna 172).
- The problem happens when starting from both runway and parked locations.
- I only have a few add-ons in the community folder (eg. gaist, seafront, pms50 and sim-rate selector).
- Re-starting MSFS 2024 or re-booting the pc does not solve the problem.

Solution: To exit MSFS 2024, use Alt-Tab (the other keys including ESC are unresponsive). To enable the keyboard again in the aircraft, switch to another keyboard profile in MSFS 2024 options.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).
