August 9Aug 9 Author Commercial Member Because MSFS does not provide Tower location data for airports, Spotty26 automatically creates a virtual Tower/Spotter camera at the airport nearest to the selected aircraft.By default, Spotty26 uses the longest suitable runway. Runway selection also takes the current wind direction and wind speed into account, helping to identify and favor the active runway whenever possible. If the aircraft is established on final approach, Spotty26 analyzes the aircraft’s heading, altitude, speed, descent, and prevailing wind conditions to determine the runway the aircraft is most likely approaching.Once the runway has been selected, Spotty26 automatically calculates the Tower/Spotter camera position based on the runway direction and the following user-adjustable settings:TowerHeight – Height of the Tower/Spotter cameraDistanceFromRunway – Distance from the runway centerlineDistanceFromRunwayStart – Position along the runwayTowerFov – Tower/Spotter camera field of viewAll these values can be adjusted by the user to customize the automatic Tower/Spotter view.Users can also manually position and save Tower/Spotter camera locations whenever a specific viewing position is preferred.
August 24Aug 24 Enjoying Spotty26, thank you! Two features I would love to see, unless perhaps I'm not aware it's already possible. Anyway...there needs to be a way to instantly zoom in to where your plane is on the ground, for example your departure ramp/gate. Right now what I've been doing is expand the map to full screen (on my second display), whereupon I can see my plane. Next, I have to manually mouse-zoom all the way in maximally but it does not stay centered over the plane, then need to hit the M button to take zoomed in focus to my plane's location. I would love to have a single button press to zoom in max to the area where the plane is.The second thing I would love to see is WHEN you have created a tower location and saved it, it would be awesome if when you are in the vicinity of that tower, in other words at that airport location, that hitting the TOWER and CAM buttons takes you there immediately, without the need to hit the Spotties button, then select the tower you've created. Too many steps it really needs to be smart enough to automatically select the tower you've created. Maybe that means using a nomenclature to identify the spotty you created is the tower for that airport or something along those lines. Cheers and keep up the great work!
