Friday at 10:10 PM3 days I'm at my wits end with FSX (PC, from steam) and I can't find any other post with the same issue as me. In settings > controls, the 'controller type' can, in theory be selected. After selection, pressing 'OK' should save this, but for me it doesn't.I have a list of 4 controller types:Mouse YokeMouse LookTCA Sidestick X CopilotTCA Q-Eng 1&2FSX defaults to selecting the controller type at the bottom of the list. If I select any other controller and press OK, then immediately reopen controller settings, it reverts back to the bottom of the list. This happens if I unplug one of / both of the TCA controllers too. The main troubleshooting advice I've found is to delete the 'Standard.XML' file and reboot the game so it creates a new one, or to ensure it has the permissions to overwrite the file. My problem is that pressing OK in the controller menu DOES save SOME information. If I untick 'enable controllers', change the keyboard sensitivity sliders etc, those settings will be there if I close & re-open the controller menu. At this point I've exhausted all troubleshooting efforts.Even if you don't know the answer to this question, but you have the same issue, feel free to reply. It'd be good to know if this is affecting anyone else!!
Saturday at 08:59 AM2 days I think you misunderstand how the control menu works, which is understandable since the FSX UI is such an old design and is a bit strange at first. That drop down menu is just a list of all control devices that FSX sees. It does not matter which one is selected because that menu is just for selecting the control device that you currently want to map buttons, keys, axis's and adjust the sensitivity to. FSX will use all of the control devices that it sees at the same time so you can use as many control devices as you want. One thing you should also know is that FSX will automatically sets default button, key and axis mapping for every control device, and it's always the same for every device so you need to ensure there's no control mapping conflicts between all of them. What I do when I first install FSX and I need to configure all of my devices; I go through each and every device, delete all of the default mapping, and manually configure them one by one the way that I want. You can ignore Mouse Yoke and Mouse Look unless you want to change how it works, those two are default mapping for using the mouse.Edit: I should also mention, if you ever want a more advanced way of mapping control devices, you should consider using an add-on program called FSUIPC4: simMarket: FSUIPC4This is what I use because it allows me to configure the controls in ways that are not possible using the FSX controls menu.
