Backup MSFS2020

Featured Replies

After my TERRIBLE fiasco losing 2020, I wondered if there was a way to backup JUST MSFS2020 - nothing else.

Is there?

desktop browser AI can tell you how to do it. Windows has a built in backup system. Ask AI about using it. You need a fast USB drive. The price of these have skyrocketed the last 2 years. I paid $149 for this 2TB drive October 2024. They now go for about $400 in the 2TB size.

Most of my addons are via Addon Linker. Those that aren't are easy enough to reinstall., (Navigraph, PMDG etc.) I do a daily, automatic, differential back up of the files from addon linker. They're mostly in one major directory and serval subdirectories. Once a month, I put the latest of these minor backups in the major 'parent' backup on to an external hard disk. Works for me.

FWIW, I use Hasleo backup suite free. https://www.hasleo.com/

Another EDIT: FWIW, I bought a new PC about a year ago and did wonder how I was going to reload all my control configurations. It took about a day, but the installation did manage that process very well.
