N111MD and M211MD were both GE powered MD-11's, while N311MD was the first PW engined example.

Thanks Albaro. Was N411MD a GE or P&W powered bird? I really should get out of my hole and do some serious reading on the MD-11. lol

N411MD was GE powered. Swissair was the first major user of the PW engined variant, there's no real pattern to which airlines decided to use PW or GE. It was probably was an issue with which engines their 767's had, as the 767 and MD-11 engines are of the same family.

Thanks again, Albaro. I checked out the Aerofax MD-11 book at the local bookstore and saw a rendering of an Air Europe RB.211 variant. Very interesting. The cowlings as a whole for the MD-11 are remarkably similar to the ones on the A330.

Just like the MD-11, the A330 uses a variant of the PW4000 series. PW4460 and 4462's for the MD-11, 94 inch fans, PW4168's with 100 inch fans for the A330's. Being of the same family, they'll certainly look similar externally. Same goes with the GE engines. GE CF6-80C2D1F's for the MD-11, and the slightly larger CF6-80E1A series for the A330.

No personal photo's..some buried company newspapers (some in color) with some photos from back then. Right now my home PC is dead(w/Scanner), expect to be back up in a couple weeks. (ordered new MB and Memory) If you've not found what you want by then let me know. I don't have much (and it well buried in my overly filled garage!) but who knows...
