January 10, 200521 yr HiI modeled an airplane in GMAX. I started with a plane (as compared to a polygon). Now these "planes" do only have one single side. The other side is "see-through". How do I change this in GMAX. Is it a material property?ThanksRobert
January 10, 200521 yr In Gmax, for viewing purposes you may turn on/off "Backface Cull" in the object's properties. This has no effect in FS as only the "normals" side will be rendered there.
January 10, 200521 yr The problem is, that I need something that has an effect on FS. I do not want to have an the interior floating in mid air just because the interior walls of my airplane are "see-through".

I do not want to have an the interior floating in mid air>just because the interior walls of my airplane are>"see-through".The "normal procedure" is to copy the exterior visual model to the "interior" part of the model, then delete any polgons that can't be seen from "inside" the cabin/cockpit.This eliminates the problem of the "see through interior" you mentioned. ;) Fr. January 11, 200521 yr tell me if i interprated ur question wrongly:You are modelling the walls of a VC, and you see the polygon on the outside but not the inside?in that case convert it to mesh and select the polygons and flip it :)
January 14, 200521 yr Or, you can make a copy of that part and select the normal modifier. Check the flip normals box and all the normals for tha part will be inverted. Collapse stack or convert to mesh. You can attach the two parts together if you like and even weld the points together, so long as you have assigned different smoothing groups for each side so you dont get wacky shading. The way to do only a few polys are by manually flipping individual ones by the "flip normal mode" option on the quad menu(right click).
