Does any one knows how to rcover corrupted bmp files? , nearly all of my files are damaged. I can't do any repaint at all however fs works fine, all airplanes are displayed correctly.Please help

Are you sure these files are corrupted ??It sounds like you are trying to open "compressed" .bmp files(like most FS bitmaps are) in a program that doesn't support this.Rob

There are not corrupted. They are in MS special format. BEFORE DOING ANYTHING WITH A FILE, COPY IT SOMEWHERE SAFE SO THAT YOU CAN RESTORE IT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.Having warned you, you can open these files with ImageTool which is provided with FS. Note what format they are in and if they have mipmaps and an alpha channel. Convert them to 32 bit then save them under another name. You can reverse the process to convert them back again after you've changed them provided your image editor handles alpha channels properly.This can be a tricky subject so I suggest you read up on the tutorials and threads in the forums before starting.

Thank you very much, you are right they are compressed files, I don't know how I missed that since the normal procedure I follow has always been opening them with DXTbmp and then save as TGA or any other format my paint program recognizes. Guess I'm getting old right?

Perhaps I've been putting too many hours on my work and I need a rest, because the procedure I usually follow before doing any repaint is just what you have indicated, somehow it slipped my mind, age does strange things to the brain. Thank you very much for your help.
