Hi everybody !GCA is like a spoken ILS, used mainly in military ops, but as well in civilian ATC as a backup for ILS.Anybody to give it a try and develop one? I will assist as I used it as a pilot for several years.Localizer and glide slope are "materialized" by the controler's voice with small corrections, typically 2 deg. right or left and 200 feet increments or decrement in rate of descent. DH about 200 feet.Aircraft only needs a VHF freq. easy to setup with glide angle, touch down coordinates and runway heading.I am a VB programmer but nothing in C++, must be a join venture... and freeware please.Best regards, Phil

Pretty straightforward in XML. You can 'measure' these deviations readily and get the well known sound playing gauge to play the correct wav files according to the amount of deviation error. I'd have a go myself but very busy at present.nick

Hi Rob and Nick,Good news ! we aren't so far.Las, I do use XML but for data transfert via http ... Nothing remotely similar.The idea to start from the ball gauge is brilliant, now we need a wizard to map the deviations to spoken instructions ... Here again i am useless.Would be of wider use if it would use references from the rwy threshold coordinates and mag. heading with adjustable slope. eg. 3 to 5 deg. But for a start ILS is simpler I guess.By the way, the GCA radar scope is pretty nice also, similar to E.
