June 27, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hello all,Is it possible to reference sounds from several different aircraft? As in, I'd like to have a Lear external startup sound, but a B737 internal startup sound?Basically, is this possible:In Sound.cfg,(STARTER)filename=B737_400soundxban2tviewpoint=1link=xstarter(XSTARTER)filename=Lear45soundlan2strtviewpoint=2Misho P3D SpacePort Team
June 28, 200520 yr Moderator While I don't believe that is a valid syntax/usage, the only way to be sure would be to try it out......which you can easily do... ;) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
June 28, 200520 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Bill,I did try it, but no bannanas :)I tried all other syntax forms that could come to mind, quotes, double slashes, still nothing.Just thought someone stumbled on this, as I can't believe MS would not put a support for this, it seems so obvious...Thanks anyway,Misho P3D SpacePort Team
June 28, 200520 yr Hi,Just an idea.Did you try also:filename=./Aircraft/B737_400/sound/xban2tJan"Beatus Ille Procul Negotiis" Jan "Beatus ille qui procul negotiis..."
June 28, 200520 yr Why not just copy the sound you want from the aircraft you want into the sound folder of the aircraft you are using the sounds on???Seems much easier to me.Steve
June 29, 200520 yr Author Commercial Member Yes it does, but repetition is never an elegant solution. Also, if at some point I want to distribute aircraft, it would make for a far smaller download package.BTW - you can do this type of referencing for bitmaps in panel.cfg. That is why I am bewildered why it isn't possible to do this for sounds.Misho P3D SpacePort Team
