OT - Trip to NASM

Featured Replies

Hey guys,Just got back from a trip to Washington D.C., and while I was there, I visited the NASM and because of my research into the Starship Enterprise, got a personal tour of the NASM! She said they may even have to change the plaque of the ship with the new info I provided. :DThe curator took me to the ship and I got to examine it closely to clear up some rumors and facts. She was awesome! Pictures are getting developed, and I'll probably post one or two later. Was a lot of fun getting the inside scoop on various artifacts. The new Wright flyer display (where you can walk up to it) is great. If you are in that area, definately worth the trip.Patrick

Well, as promised, here are some pics... although the el-cheapo camera screwed up these two. =(Currator and I in front of the ship:http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k282/Ben...MargaretnMe.jpgMy mother, her husband, and I, in front of the ship:http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k282/Ben...yEnterprise.jpgI did the best I could fixing them in photoshop, but the film was just screwed up. I'm going to have some other photos taken of the ship later, when I get to see the original blueprints used to construct her.Patrick

I remember seeing that when I was in the NASM in May (June?) 2003. In some ways I was slightly disappointed with the overall DC display as I'd also been to Wright-Patterson and Cape Canaveral a few weeks earlier. Thanks for the reminder Patrick - it brought back some #### good memories!-Dai

We spoke about that, and she intends on moving it when she finds the right place for it. It is no small task however as they have to open the wall to do it. I also suggested more lights. She is also disappointed that the restoration wasn't to original condition, but was not in charge then. It did have to be restored as it was in horrible condition when aquired. Parts were missing etc.Patrick
