May 7, 200224 yr I have some fresh out of the camera yesterday. What size should I make them and how to get them them to you? I am using an "Airport Diagram" for the layout. I got the diagram into gmax and use the line tool and mesh edit so far. But have a look at the diagram for yourself and give me your opinion. I can send a copy of it also. You know where Flower Mound is? I know where W.S. is, used to be great military a/c watching in that area.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cd2fb923e5fd384.jpg-Jay....:-yellow1-NWA Line Maintenance KDFW -WORLDWIDE RELIABILITY i9-13900KS | ASUS Z790 Maximus | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity | G-Skill DDR5-7200 CL34 2x16 | Nvidia 4090 FE | Samsung 990 Pro x 2

May 7, 200224 yr Ihor, Buddy you don't really want me to explain this to you. I thought I had it figured out and boom, not. The book is very helpful. Barnes and Noble has it for 40$. Go to the store and look through it. I saw another one that had a keyboard short-cut pull out, that looked worth buying the book just for that.Great on the CD. I'll be waiting buy the mailbox, rain or shine. :-lolThanks for sending.:-)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cd2fb923e5fd384.jpg-Jay....:-yellow1-NWA Line Maintenance KDFW -WORLDWIDE RELIABILITY i9-13900KS | ASUS Z790 Maximus | Lian Li Galahad II Trinity | G-Skill DDR5-7200 CL34 2x16 | Nvidia 4090 FE | Samsung 990 Pro x 2
May 7, 200224 yr Commercial Member Looks interesting to me too. I think I have already found out some ways to use the textures. I really like the way you can repeat a small piece of texture on a building. But I always want to learn other tricks and tips :).ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. May 7, 200224 yr Commercial Member >My "problem" lies mostly with how Microsoft >gives very (none basicly) on their exporter the "SDK" is a >joke it's NOT an SDK just a >badly done how to use make .mdl exe.I agree here, we really miss a good support for what the exporter can do and what it doesn't. But that's what we are used to, we are even still waiting for the scenery SDK. I had hoped it would be released soon after the last SDK, but M$ has returned to silence again....>By the way do NOT use the new >make .mdl exe it's got big time prodlems as well. I use the new MakeMDL without problems. Works just fine here.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen Arno If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done. May 8, 200224 yr ..pause....er I thought we used the making bgl function & the makeMDL was for aircraft!I wish I had ArchiCad :-)I want a (help create) tutorial for this building:http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/ewm/001e...edia/index.htmlWhat a city! The building in the background is the first gmax building I'm doing.http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/ewm/001e...411RLeeseVw.jpg
May 8, 200224 yr Hi Ihor do you use netmeeting? I think it would be possable to doas a spline do do the curve with out 9 million polly's I ahd a hard drive go boom so I don't have 3DS max back on my machine yet but I did a building ( Cdn Warplane Heratage museum) at CYHM that is similar in many ways. Let me give it a try the textures however maytake a little longer!!http://members.rogers.com/klasik2/danlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif
May 9, 200224 yr Yes, these new architectural masterpieces are quite a challenge and gmax is the route to take.As for the textures, I like your philosophy, explained earlier in this thread.Net Meeting, Yes interested.Timezones? I'm Pacific
May 10, 200224 yr 10-4 Ihor do you have a top down view of the building so I can getthe basic shape down then all I would have to do would be to pull down on the edges of the polly's to get the roof line. (If you do please post) http://members.rogers.com/klasik2/danlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif
May 13, 200224 yr Have been reading this thread with interest, as I am creating an airport at the moment using Gmax for buildings, and airport for runways/taxiways etc...Have had no problems at all with getting the textures onto the sides of the buildings (even got one on the ground for a fuel depot :) ) - My main problem at the moment is trying to design a hanger that has rectangle front and rear with a curved middle... (gonna try again shortly :) )One thing I have found which may or may-not be of interest, is not to bother with the small 128x128 / 256x256 bitmaps for your textures.. - I have made a bitmap of 1024x1024, and am dumping all my textures for everything into that.. They display fine, and there doesn't seem to be any degredation of frame rates using the rather large texture bitmap. (I estimate that I "should" end up only needing the 1 bitmap for the whole of the airport.)
