I am looking for the same thig to make Ramp lights in my scenery. I heard in the MakeMDL SDK that the light codes work for both scenrey and aircraft however it did not work when I applied the tutorial. On the other hand I used the default makeMDL plugin, the one that came with FS2002 Pro since the new one with the SDK gives tons of errors if used in GmaxAnyone?CheersMichel

I have done some testing with it. Ather assigning the matrial name light_nav to the material I found the following BGLC code in the ASM file:[tt]BGL_TRANSFORM_MAT 20.000000,20.000000,20.000000, 1.000000,0.000000,0.000000, 0.000000,0.000000,-1.000000, 0.000000,-1.000000,0.000000BGL_LIGHT LIGHT_LANDING, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000, 20, 0.60, 0.40, 0FFE0B096h, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000 ; source poly num = 1BGL_TRANSFORM_END ; Transform RotateAroundX[/tt]I have done some testing with the BGL_TRANSFORM_MAT and by chaning the rotation I can get the light beam to display on the ground. But only along the ground, I have not yet got it to display onto the ground from the air. Maybe someone who is a bit more familair with the BGL_TRANSFORM_MAT command can tell me what kind of matrix the last 9 parameters form (this is a bit different from the SCASM TransformCall command).By the way, I am using the same method in my SCASM scenery now. And there is works, only the projection of the beam on the ground is a bit narrow. I used the SCASM commands TransformCall and Light for that.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen

Hi Arno,Sounds very interesting!! I wonder if one can create the same type of landing light in a/c for sceneries and that can project them form a pole on the ramp toward the ground. I hope more discoveries will allow this.As for now I did a cone in Gmax and maped a transparent ambient texture on it that takes the yellow color at night. I did not test the BGL yet but I cant waitCheersMichel

Hi Michel,Here is a picture of my SCASM variant. You don't see the cone (yet). But you see the light on the ground. This is al generated by FS with a single light command.I hope I can figure out how this can be made in GMax. That would be very usefull.http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen/pics/sc_light.jpgArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen

I have used that kind of lights in my recent scenery EPGDv2.zip available here, which was made not with gMax yet, but FSDS. Lights work fine, but cones appear only under lower FS visibility setting.I used landing lights with varied intensity setting and they give quite interesting halo effect. Please take a look. Ted

Hi Arno I.ve been looking into the above as well as one of those values seems to give me the "you have applied an expltict scaling modifer matrix and this is unessary and should not be done" messagemaybe we could get together on yahoo or netmeeting some time and yapAs soon as I figure out what time zone Kiwi land is in LOL Jim Kanold and I do have a few tricks that may help all of us.http://members.rogers.com/klasik2/danlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif

I think I would be a good idea to exchange some tips and maybe we can together solve some of these problems :).I think Kiwi land is GMT+12, I am in GMT+1, so that can be a challenge to get a good time :).But I do think it is a great idea, I also have some IM programs, so that should be able to work :).ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen

I just yesterday started with the terminal lights, for KDAL, following this tutorial and I had no luck either. I had to take a break from the concourses and main terminal, going crazy. :-lol Arno, you added the code to the light .bgl file correct? What do you use to edit it, this will be my first time? :-)Hope you masters can figure this one out, I know you will. :-)Thanks.....http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cc2f79359ef55e8.jpg-Jay....:-wave-NWA Line Maintenance KDFW

>Arno, you added the code to the light .bgl file correct? >What do you use to edit it, this will be my first time? :-) The picture I showed is not from the GMax scenery, that is my "old" SCASM scenery that uses the same sort of command (and thus shows it should be possible). To edit the code, I just check "keep files" while exporting and then load the asm files in a text editor. After I make some changes I recompile it again. That's all :).ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen

So no luck with Gmax yet. I am confident there should be a possibility. The scasm light you did , does it affect 3D objects that hits it? That means does it light aicraft if they stop underneath it?CheersMichel
