February 5, 200323 yr Commercial Member Basically the rule is inside first, then the outside (I'll explain it in more detail (and also why) in the tutorial). And how is simple, just open the source and start playing with it :D (altough I understand that this is not the normal thing to do for every designer :)).ArnoMember Netherlands 2000 Scenery Team[link:home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen]Arno's FlightSim World for scenery design hints, tips and other tricks... February 5, 200323 yr Hi Dave, had the same Problems when generating scenery with makemdl and I solved it by using uncompressed textures. (555-....)I don#t know how to alter the drawing order in makemdl, so i am looking forward to any other solution.Harald
February 5, 200323 yr Hi HaroldI look forward to the tutorial that Arno is kindly considering.your findings, add yet more choice in direction, doesn't using uncompressed bitmap's risk higher frame rates, or is the use of non-square bitmap's detracting from thisAnother variable in the shaker!!!!Dave
February 6, 200323 yr Commercial Member The tutorial is there!http://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen/transtexThe first part describes why the drawing order is important and how it works. This part is valid for both Fs2000 and Fs2002.In the second part I take look at the influence of different type of textures. This part is really new, I hadn't seen these effects before. I have tried to get some conclusions from it, but we might need to discuss it a bit more here. After that I can update the tutorial when needed.ArnoMember Netherlands 2000 Scenery Team[link:home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen]Arno's FlightSim World for scenery design hints, tips and other tricks...
