Wave effect based on wind?

Featured Replies

I was just reading through sasa's thread about waves, as I'm currently working on this as well...but I have an unrelated question:Is there a way to control waves based on wind direction? Say you've got a reef, with wind from a certain direction at a certain speed, waves will break there. Any simple way to do that? Thanks!sg

Hi Scott, interesting question. What I do know is that effects can be and are influenced by wind; my first set of wake effects for AI ships (part of ai_ships.zip) contained an error that made them drift away in the wind very quickly. However, there's obviously a difference between this kind of wind influence and what you're trying to achieve. I'll think about it a bit while I look at the waves on the beach at my vacation spot (family reunion) this week ;-)Cheers, Holger
