Aerial Imagery

Featured Replies

Hey,I've been using Microsoft TerraServer to get aerial photos for use with Flight Simulator, but I'd like to extend my scenery beyond its coverage area. Where do you guys go to get your images? And is conversion necessary? Thanks

Hi,Try airliners.net, jetphotos.net or myaviation.net

Thanks but I'm more talking about aerial images and not ones of airports. Is USGS any good? Or TerraServer?

You could ttry Google Earth. Some areas are high resolution

Right but there's legal issues with that.

Here in Canada I've either purchased airphotos commercially, or in some instances got permission to use imagery from local authorities at no cost. Try the city planning office for the area in question. Make it clear you don't need 10 cm imagery!Jon

That's a good idea. I'll give them a try. Where do you purchase your images from?

The websites mentioned above contain aerial photos of most airports taken either by pilots or passengers. If you need true aerial photography over a wide area i suppose the only solution is to use an aerial survey company. They charge big $$$ for their services.Good luck.
