January 4, 200818 yr I've been using the FSX SDK Object Placement Tool for a while, but I've only recently got around to placing objects that I'd like to illuminate things in my scenery at night (i.e. lights).I've placed some default objects in my scenery (e.g. ag_LightPole) which appear just fine, but at night they don't illuminate. Am I doing something wrong? I added them as standard scenery objects, should I be adding them as some other kind of scenery?I guess I could use some XML progamming to add a lighting effect (a steep learning curve), but before I started down this road I just want to check if I simply need to use Object Placement Tool in a different way?Happy New YearAndy i7-8086k OC @ 5GHz, 64Gb RAM, GTX 1080ti 11Gb GPU, HP Reverb G2, Win10 Pro 64-bit Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals, Saitek X52 Pro
January 4, 200818 yr OK, I've just noticed that the default radar dish (sco_gen_radarshackbaseb) I added to my scenery isn't rotating! Now I really suspect there is something I'm not doing right in the SDK Object Placement Tool. Perhaps in this case I should be adding it as some kind of animation? Does anyone have any suggestions? i7-8086k OC @ 5GHz, 64Gb RAM, GTX 1080ti 11Gb GPU, HP Reverb G2, Win10 Pro 64-bit Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals, Saitek X52 Pro
January 4, 200818 yr Author Hello Andy,The radar dish (and the amusement park, and the wind turbine) were animated in FS 9. But, unfortunately, when the developers ported the objects for FS X, they forgot to include the animations. So, don't panic just yet - those objects simply are no longer animated. As for the light pole, it is just an autogen object and does not illuminate anything. Sorry. And best wishes for the New Year to you as well!Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
