Serious AFCAD bug -- can't access airports

Featured Replies

I'm having a serious problem. Recently, whenever I modify or import certain airports in AFCAD, all airports in eurnwafd.bgl become inaccessible through the go to airport menu. No runways, or gates are available and no flight plans can be generated through the default flight planner. I've tried using both older and newer versions of AFCAD (there are only two, right?) and the problem persists. Does it have anything to do with how FS compiles the scenery file indices?Any help is greatly appreciated as my FS is pretty unuseable right now.Misha

The newest AFCAD (1.2.2) does have a RESTORE feature. Have you tried that? Also, can you still access the airports in AFCAD? If you've done a lot of manual work yourself, you could EXPORT those airports you've worked on, then restore the original file and one-by-one import the airports back, checking each time to see if you have a problem.Another thing you might try (assuming the airports look OK in AFCAD) is closing FS2K2 BEFORE you SAVE your airport. Then close AFCAD and restart FS2K2. I don't recall having to do that with the older AFCAD, but the new one explicitly reminds you that it's necessary.

I have GoBack actually, so it saves all files I edit. Restoring was not a problem. FS wasn't running while I was making the changes. It's just that when I try to import files for EDDW and EKCH I have this problem. I had it with some other airports earlier as well, but then it went away mysteriously and I forgot which airports they were. So I can restore, but I can't change the airport to what I want it to be because as soon as I save the imported file, I lose the airport in the menu in FS, next time I load FS. It's still accessible in AFCAD.Misha

Email Lee Swordy and have him send you AFCAD 1.2.4 and see if this fixes it.For now, export your edited airport (before saving the AFD file) and see if there are any junk characters in it (like #J). If so, change those entries to 0.00 in the columns proper format and then import it. Edit the changed positions. Now try saving the file. BTW, 1.2.4 is supposed to fix this.Hope this helps,-- Tom GibsonCalifornia Classic Propliners: http://www.calclassic.com/Cal Classic Alco Page: http://www.calclassic.com/alco/Freeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.com/ San Diego Model RR Museum: http://www.sdmodelrailroadm.com/Drop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___

I asked a similar question, and he said that there was little "new" in 1.2.4 and he felt that to force others without problems to download an "update" for no useful purpose was a waste of their time.
