May 17, 200323 yr Hi Gang,Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but here goes. Many of the airplanes that I have downloaded that say they are usable in FS2002 do not have the landing gear down on the ground when I use them for AI aircraft in TTools flight plans. The landing gear appears ok when I select the aircraft to fly using the aircraft menue but when used for AI they taxi around with no landing gear. :-( I've noticed that this happens at airports that I have used AFCAD to create taxiways and parking gates that did not have them in the default 2002. (Edwards Air Force Base, March AFB, my home base of Lake Havasu City,AZ to name a few)Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Ed Weber a.k.a tallpilot
May 17, 200323 yr Sorry, but those planes are really FS98 or FS2000, and the gear won't work when used as FS2002 AI planes. Just be happy to fly them yourself, and find something else to substitute for them as AI. There are plenty to choose from. I've retired a few myself...
May 17, 200323 yr Thanks Capt, I was afraid of that. I was trying to set up some traffic (B-52's, C-5's and U-2's) to some of the military bases that I've spent some time at. The fighters (F-15's, F-16's and F-22's) seem to work real well. I've got them flying closed circuits at Edwards and March. Thanks again for the help.Ed Weber a.k.a tallpilot
May 18, 200323 yr They actually might be for FS2002 but that they are not AI ready. [div align=center][link:www.jetdoc.com/STO/]Visit The Bookstore & Gift Shoppe][/b
May 20, 200323 yr To expand on the topic, For the "AI" aircraft to have visable landing gear on the deck, I know of 2 things that can be done:1. Probalbly most popular is use aircraft created with GMAX and/or FSDS2.2. If FSDS or any other program(prior FS2K2) those aircraft need to be made with the landing gear pins in so to speak. Which means the landing gear will always be down. The only one I know of that actually makes "AI" aircraft this way is Barry Blaisdell of Premier Aircraft Design http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/premaircraft/home.htmI use his AI C-130's don't look too bad on the deck, and since I'm not much into flying formation with AI aircraft, the fact that the gear is always down doesn't bother me. Can't remember the last time I came across one of the Hercs inflight. Though they are aplenty when I visit Guam, Hawaii, Japan. While on this subject I believe that he has modeled the aircraft this way, so you can't just do a little mod in the aircraft.cfg file and "install the gear pins"Have your checked out www.simviation.com ? They have quite a bit of GMAX military aircft. I picked up a GMAX KC-135, C-5, and something else for some military AI.:-outtahttp://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...43942b48d2b.jpg
May 26, 200323 yr Author Hi. Any other good sites for military AI with gear? I am looking for a good KC-10. Could not find the KC-135 at Simviation. Thanks, regards, Bob.
May 28, 200323 yr u can use any plane out there for AI, just make sure its made with GMAX, or u will have no propellers, landing gear, flaps, etc.... the default FS2002 aircraft r from GMAX, thats y they have all the AI parts! stick with that and its all good:D Tim here! A mid is a terrible thing to lose!:D
May 28, 200323 yr Author Hi. Thanks. I am still looking for good military GMax planes. There does not seem to be many out there, or I have not found them. Best regards, Bob.
May 29, 200323 yr Project AI has models and repaints for the E-3 Sentry (USAF, RAF and Royal Saudi AF). They've also got a KC-135 and OC-135 (?) under the "Boeing 703" heading (B707-300). These are not generally flyable, but if you're looking to populate your AF bases they're great.
May 30, 200323 yr Author Hi Captain. Thanks. I'll check them out. I like military planes. I am so tired of the commercial stuff. Best regards, Bob.
May 30, 200323 yr Commercial Member Howdy:how about military choppers? By the end of next week, possibly sooner, you will have the ability to add a bunch of GMax choppers as AI; they won't hover but behave quite chopper-like in most other respects. If you're interested, have a look in the AI Helicopter message forum over at Hovercontrol: http://www.hovercontrol.com/Cheers, Holgerhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/13271.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/13272.jpghttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/13273.jpg
