Fly! II default aircraft autopilot settings

Featured Replies

Hi,I meet some troubles setting the Sahara and the Pilatus autopilot. For instance, I want my aircraft to reach an altitude of 5000 ft with a vertical speed (VS) of 500 ft/s. I set the autopilot correctly but once the aircraft has reached 5000ft, it goes on climbing !:-kewl Moreover, the aircraft doesn't keep a constant vertical speed. Sometimes he climbs 500ft/s, sometimes more. For me, the autopilot doesn't work but how to make it work ? How to set both altitude and vertical speed ?Please could you help me ?Thank you.;-)Damien BRUNET.e-mail : [email protected]

Hi Damien, I use the Sahara all the time when I am not using the Jets & for me it works perfectly. Here is the way I use it. I set the Altitude to what I want then I push the bottom Left hand side button oposite the altitude knob which gives me the Arm indication, if you do not have this Arm light on then it will fly right past the set Altitude. To set the vertical speed I set it at what vertical speed I want which gives me the up facing arrow then push the top button on the left hand side & this gives me the VS indication & it will climb at the rate I set. Sometimes if I set this up before activating the Autopilot it will set my previously set VS to zero & the FD takes over at it's vertical speed so I have to re-enter the VS I want then re-activate the VS by pushing the top left hand button again which then gives it back control.Hope this long winded reply helps.Desmond

Hi Damien! The Sahara is no problem for me, there the autopilot works perfect and just as Desmod described. But the Pilatus gives me some trouble with overshooting the desired , and requested, altitude. The explanation for this, according to others in this forum, is that the Pilatus has so much power in its turbine engine, that it needs your help to establish at the desired altitude. Therefore I do as someone wrote earlier in this forum (sorry don
