October 11, 200322 yr Hi,My question is does the fly! II has depressing colors or is it my computer? the sky are always gray during the day, the scenery is pretty "dark", no green, nothing.I've the lastest patch 2.50.240, radeon 9500 pro 128mb, 1GB memory, and the vertexIndexFormat=0Other sims (FU3, FS200X) looks great.Any ideas?Amir
October 11, 200322 yr Dear Amir, don't wait so much from FLYII sky :-(. Really I remember, Fly! 1 was better than this one!! I tried to tune sky.ini many time, but I've never seem any beautiful sky. Anyway FlyII is nice all the same :-)RegardsGiorgio
October 11, 200322 yr Amir,A couple of things you may want to check:1) Make sure that in your Fly.ini file, the entry showDistantClouds is set to =02) You can download several Sky tweaks from the Avsim Library. Here are some of them:http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=8991http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=9884http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=10680http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=11210http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=12995http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=12506Try them for yourself and keep the one(s) you like the most.If you get a weird color upon switching to another ski.ini file, just advance the time with the T key and it should go away.Hope this helps.Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly! October 11, 200322 yr G'day Amir,This topic has been covered quite extensively in the past. I'm not very technically "au fait" but it appears that when TRI released Fly! II they "saved precious CD space?? (that's the only explanation I can remember)" by not using the full number of bits to store colour depth. That's why the colours in Fly! II lack depth/lustre.Notwithstanding the above however there must be something very wrong with your setup. Have you tried using one of the Sky enhancer programs from the Avsim library? You can "blue up" the skies with them. There is also a "texture enhancer" program that can be used to brighten up the textures but be warned. Save the original textures first so that if you don't like the brightenend textures you can revert back to the original ones.Cheers,Roger @YSSY Cheers, Roger http://forum.avsim.net/public/styles_images/flags/au.png
October 11, 200322 yr 10x,I d/led the files, and now it looks like the sky.The strange thing is that there was no "skies.ini" before that.Amir

October 14, 200322 yr look at these pics: do you think that the colours are not realistic?http://fly.simvol.org/telechargement_fly2/...ofighter_02.jpg- Eurofighter over french Britannyhttp://fly.simvol.org/telechargement_fly2/...es/vinon_02.jpg- Small french airport (Vinon)
October 14, 200322 yr Author Rene,These colors 'may' be realistic if you tell me that this is 2 hours before sunset. Otherwise FLYII is (in my opinion) incapable of simulating 'normal' day, mid-day hours when landscape should have fairly light colors. I found FLYII fairly 'gloomy' looking from day 1 and though there are probably ways by now to improve the sky - the land colors really turn me off - they are both too dark and the color palette is too limited. I agree with the original poster by the way. The poor color rendition got to be one of the main reasons why majority of simmers stay away from FLYII.
