October 3, 200421 yr Im doing a few versions of the Hangar and some Airport buildings from the period. These are a few renderings from 3DS Max 5.1Enjoyhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/93128.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/93129.jpg http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/93130.jpg SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr Nice one on the cat Steve, is it yours? You're getting master into the 3D design, keep it up! Take care mate,
October 3, 200421 yr It's about time, Steve. My poor Electra has been sitting in the hot California sun. It's ready to come out as an Alpha. I saw some of your early 3d modeling. That's been my hold up--trying to do and learn each step of the way. For example, it took me many weeks on and off to figure out how to edit polygons on the Electra. I still don't know how to do it well. And the list goes on...., but I've got a working model and soon will get it going ..tony
October 3, 200421 yr From you, this is a real compliment, thankyou :-) I do all my texture with Photoshop 7, but with the greenery around the side of the building and the Cat I used Paintshop Pro 7. The tool to use is the picture tube tool, shown below. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/93131.jpg You can even create your own picture tubes out of any picture you have. So you can add moss to buildings or Ivy around the windows...Thanks again mate, Cheers Steve. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr I know, you need to keep her clean and out of the good weather :-) Im starting a round top hangar as well. What I need to know is the height of the Electra to get my dimensions of the building right...If you can re size the models in Fly2 I could send you the files to do it yourself? Or.......... you could send me the plane :-lol cheeky huh ;-) Cheers Steve. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr I could send you the plane, but I have no idea as to how many pieces( files) I would need to send you to make it work. Currently, it's a miracle that FLy2 loads as I make my changes to the Electra.I will try different hangars, and then point you to one of Wayne's airports for reference. Would that help? Also , we will need a couple of vintage planes for scenery purposes...As for resizing a model, I am assuming you're referring to my going into the editor and changing the dimensions...., I might be able to do that. I've done a few experiments with changing the taxiway signs.... tony
October 3, 200421 yr What I will do is send you my files as there are only 3. See if its OK with the size of the plane. Then I can easily make the size change. Whats your email address? Send to [email protected] and I will reply with the files for you :-) Cheers Steve. My Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr Yes you could resize it in editor, then let me know what you resized too :-) SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr Tony you have mail!If you need to re-size just re-size the height as below...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/93137.jpg The filenames given to the hangars are ST043 & ST044If you need the hangar to be deeper I will do this with 3DS Max, no problemo ;-) Cheers SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr What do you think, Steve? I have the plane literally in the building for perspective. The height appears ok. Too bad for the logo...tony
October 3, 200421 yr Great :-) I think I have sorted out the logo problem ;-) I noticed that the tiff can be made bigger while adding it into fly2.So I tried a larger tiff size and... presto! You may as well play with the goodies for now and deleate them when I send you the other files. One of them is an open door hangar. Sadly this creates slightly higher poly count though. At least I know the size. Im working on some low poly buildings for a test with Laurent, so it will be a few days off now.Have fun tony, and all the best on your Aircraft.SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orghttp://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ysomdesign/banner.jpg
October 3, 200421 yr Thanks, Steve. Imagine if we could get a few more volunteers....,there would be no end to this..tony
