Anaglyph's - My favorite images (PICS)

Featured Replies

Hi All,As an addition to the anaglyph cloud/aircraft post, I thought I'd also post my favorite top 10 (well, nine actually) non-sim related stereo pics. There are so many to choose from, but these are always at the top of my "best" folder. These should be good ones to test your new glasses with since so many are buying right now for FS. Some are pretty funny:http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e1700cba6be9.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e17a0cd86be9.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e17f0cf5bee2.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e1850d0e42b2.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e2190f756c07.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e21f0f8b0ffb.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e22a0fa3795d.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e2360fc8ba30.jpgAnd to bring it back to sim related, here's a great way to view DEM data (below is a small subset in the japan area:)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3cf3e23d0fe39be9.jpg(Scott: if these are too off topic, feel free to delete this post. I wasn't sure if all the recent discussion of anaglyphs in the forum makes these on topic... If not, I fully understand.)Enjoy,http://members.rogers.com/eelvish/elrondlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif

Hi Elrondgreat pics! It reminds me the old Duke Nukem 3D that provided support for anaglyph 3D. The immersion factor was (and still is) incredible!I'm not sure but I think ATP supported the anaglyh 3D too ?Would be great with FS2002!!!

Why must you make me work so much? Ever since I saw those cloud shots I've been looking around for an old pair of cardboard 3D glasses that were used to view a Superbowl commercial some years ago...with no luck of course. This drawer, that drawer, this bit of blue plastic, that bit of red...well, that's the trouble, I haven't found any red plastic yet. Maybe my wife will find some; yeah, that's it! I'll bet she knows where to find some red plastic. We'll get some goofy thing rigged up yet....

One day they'll invent 3d pics that work for us poor colorblind folk. Sigh.....Mike Stone

the red/blue glasses are easy to find, as there are heaps of places on the internet offer them free, other than postage, and can buy them cheap. Just search the interent using a seach engine and type 3D glasses, there are lots of sites where you can buy them from cardboard ones to high quaility ones.I emproved mine by adding more layers to the red lens, reducing ghosting, but you can buy good pairs that reduce this, and am having great success with my 3D glasses. Anyone else trying them out as yet? Also you can use red/cyan, but don't know what works better, maybe someone has tried red/cyan.I will be buying a good quailty pear of red/blue glasses, when my card is within my credit limit again, as there are some good ones for about $8.00 that offer high quaity images, and reduced ghosting.

Say after me.. five images per post... five images per post... five images per post...digital diets are good... digital diets are good... digital diets are good...5 gets you nirvana... 5 gets you nirvana... 5 gets you nirvana...6 gets you a slap down... 6 gets you a slap down... 6 gets you a slapdown...7 is yo mamma's shoe where you don't want it....8 ain't great...9 sux'eth.

Hi JeanLuc,Don't forget that with the Nvidia stereo drivers you can apply anaglyph 3D (or shutter 3D if you have the glasses) to any DirectX or OpenGL game you have. While its not as good as true anaglyph support directly within a game, it works pretty well nonetheless. Anything 2D such as panels and the like don't turn out too well, but any 3D content works nicely.I think my favorite anaglyph'd 3D game to date is surprisingly No-Limits RollerCoaster. Its quite immersive and can give you the willies if you ride too long :-). Anyone interested can download a demo here:http://www.nolimitscoaster.comTake care, http://members.rogers.com/eelvish/elrondlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif

Heh... I can just see you asking your children where the 3D cardboard glasses are hidden :-)...As stated above, if you can't find them they should be fairly easy to make yourself if you get some transparancy printer sheets or spot-light gel sheets. Would probably be more comfortable that way as you can place them in any pair of sunglasses frames you might have lying around.Good luck! http://members.rogers.com/eelvish/elrondlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif

Hi Mike,Because of the way anaglyph's work, color blindness shouldn't adversely affect seeing a picture in 3D. While the colors may be off in your perception, your eyes will register the two separate images properly for each eye giving you the full stereo separation that allows them to be seen in 3D.There are also stereo pics that you can view without glasses of any kind... Its an interesting effect obtainable by crossing your eyes while viewing two slightly shifted pictures side by side. If you can learn to relax your eyes while they cross, the two images merge into a middle 3D image and you can see them in full color and in the best of detail perfectly clearly. It takes a bit of eye training to get it to work but it gets easier in any future viewings. Here's a site that gives some examples and walks you through the process:http://www.starosta.com/3dshowcase/ihelp.htmlTake care,http://members.rogers.com/eelvish/elrondlogo.gifhttp://members.rogers.com/eelvish/flyurl.gif

Hi Elrond,Only just got my free anaglyph glasses and really appreciate these stereo images and the clouds you posted, takes a bit of getting used to but once there WOW!Now if only I could get the Nvidia stereo drivers to work in FS:-(

Hi Elrond,Finally got them working by dropping FS to a low resolution then working back up to my normal res of 1280x960.I have not had chance for much experimentation yet but it seems as if add-on scenery does not take the stereo effect. The effect seems OK at default airports but going to EGCC & EGLL, where I have Gary Summons' scenery, I can see the seperation of the runway and centreline but the buildings do not appear to have the 'second' image: as I say though, have to experiment more with the settings.Rgds
